Coach Krzyzewski, you often respond to criticism about your inflated ego, hostile treatment of referees, and foul language by citing the amount of money you have given to charity. Are we to conclude from this that you consider writing checks a proper substitute for common human decency?

Here we go again! Stewart Mandel of Sports Illustrated has an article up about Dook's "game" vs. Georgetown:
Different season, same story.
Every year, it seems, we're led to believe the Duke Blue Devils have transformed themselves back into a legitimate Final Four contender. Some years, it's because of their tough perimeter defense. This year, it's purportedly because they've finally got some size and a legitimate point guard.
But take them out of the familiar confines of the ACC, put them in a rowdy venue like the grayed-out Verizon Center on Saturday against an elite non-conference foe like seventh-ranked Georgetown, and you find out real quickly that not much has changed about Mike Krzyzewski's team.
They're still not that athletic. They're still limited up front. And, despite what that No. 8 ranking before their name would indicate, they're still not ready for a run to Indianapolis.

Coach K and Elizabeth Dole -
Coach K held a reception at Duke for Elizabeth Dole when she was running for a US Senate seat.
As this NY Times article says, K got criticized by a lot of folks for this:
The issue caused a stir from Asheville to Kitty Hawk. Even the Duke newspaper, The Chronicle, criticized the unsavory appearance of Krzyzewski's role in the reception. It was like being heckled by his own Cameron Crazies.
Suddenly, Coach Klean had been sullied, as if his halo had been made of nothing more than tinfoil and pipe cleaners. For some reason, the meticulous coach who had always kept a lid on his politics in the past hadn't anticipated a game plan for the outrage.
